A safe, containing collectible coins, silver certificates and savings bonds was stolen from a rural Grand Meadow home between Jan. 24 and Feb. 7.
William Quandt reported the 12- by 18-inch safe missing.
The collectible coins are estimated at a worth of $200, as are the silver certificates and silver dollars missing from the safe. No dollar value was given on the savings bonds.
Mower County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating the incident.
LaPonte charged in bar fight
Valentino LaPonte was charged with assault after a fight at Margaritaville in Austin.
According to the police report, LaPonte provoked an argument with a man. La Ponte allegedly hit the man with a bar stool and then motioned he was going to hit him with a pool ball.
After a confrontation, LaPonte left the scene and was later questioned and charged by officers.
