LETTER: Good luck coaches, gymnasts

Thank you to the Herald editorial staff for your kind tribute to the Austin High girls gymnastics team for their unprecedented achievement last Saturday by taking the team championship in Section IA competition. The girls performed heroically and convincingly against other great teams.
Though head coach Mark Raymond was given proper credit in your editorial on Wednesday, I would like to add the names of assistant coaches Barb Taylor and Amy Bickler, who also contributed heavily to the victory.
It was a very exciting meet as witnessed by a large contingent of Austin fans who made a lot of noise from the bleachers for the girls in red and white. Unfortunately, there was one segment of adults that were noticeably absent from the meet–the Austin High administration. There were none present. For the record, five administrators attended the last girls basketball section championship game in Rochester three years ago. It would have been nice if at least one of our administrators had been at Stewartville Saturday to congratulate the girls on a job well done.
Good luck, coaches and gymnasts, in your next step along the way: the state gymnastics meet this weekend.
Dean Bishop
