Sauk Rapids edges Hounds 2-1 at state

Austin pitcher Nels Nelson held Sauk Rapids scoreless for the last seven innings of the game, but it wasn’t enough as the Cyclones scored two first inning runs en route to a 2-1 win over the Greyhounds in the first round of the Class ‘B’ state baseball tournament in Hutchinson Saturday.
The Hounds (27-12 overall) will play an elimination game Sunday at 5 p.m. in Browntown.
Joe Kroc had two singles for the Hounds, who were held to seven hits in the loss.
Dan Swift knocked in Austin’s only run in the top of the sixth when he drove in Nick Rohne with a sacrifice.
