In an age when politicians shun any wayward colleagues, we applaud Gov. Jesse Ventura’s unconditional support for Steven Bosacker, Ventura’s chief of staff.
It’s refreshing to see one politician supporting another person who has made a mistake.
So often, politicians do everything in their power to distance themselves from those who have committed questionable acts.
Their only focus is on saving their own careers, not helping and supporting one who was once a friend and colleague.
Certainly, that doesn’t make Bosacker’s actions any less wrong.
He pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of indecent conduct and was fined $300 for allegedly masturbating and making sexually suggestive gestures in a health club steam room.
Bosacker continues to deny the allegations.
Since Bosacker was first cited for the allegation Oct. 31, Ventura has steadfastly supported his chief of staff.
After a month-long leave of absence granted by Ventura so Bosacker could "sort out the impact this experience has had on his personal and professional life, Bosacker returned to work with the support of his governor and boss.
And for that, we support Ventura’s actions.
