According to a Mower County Sheriff’s Department report, Wolterman was southbound on a Marshall Township road about 1.1 miles north of CSAH No. 4 east of Rose Creek, when she lost control of her 1990 Pontiac Grand Prix automobile.

The car left the roadway and went into a ditch broadside, where it struck a culvert on the driver’s side.

The driver was seat-belted at the time of the accident at 6:19 p.m. Tuesday.

While sheriff’s department deputies and other emergency services personnel were attending to the victim, the victim’s father and a brother inadvertently drove upon the scene.

Funeral services are pending at Adams Funeral Home.

This is the second recent fatal accident in the area.

Dustin Davis Rosel 20 of Rose Creek, was killed in a two-vehicle accident Monday, July 17, west of Rose Creek.

Rosel’s vehicle collided with another driven by Cory Richard Kraft, 20 of rural Austin, in the north "S" curve along CSAH No. 4. Kraft is recovering from multiple injuries suffered in the mishap.

Car prowlings

One male juvenile was arrested and another escaped Tuesday, when Austin Police Department officers were called to the scene of car prowlings.

According to a police report, eyewitnesses saw the youths entering legally parked cars and taking items from the vehicles.

When police arrived at the scene in the 800 block of Eighth Street SE, they were able to catch one of the juveniles, but another ran away.

The individual captured by police had on his possession $32.89, including a large amount of change, six packs of cigarettes, several car air fresheners, eight cigarette lighters, baseball cards, a pipe and other incriminating items, according to the report.

He was released in the custody of his parents and faces theft charges when the Mower County Attorney has reviewed the evidence.
