Gebhardt is the incumbent SWCD supervisor for District No. 1.

Earlier last week, Jeff Anderson filed for House District 27B.

The Republican will challenge incumbent State Rep. Rob Leighton, currently serving his third term in the Minnesota House.

Richard P. Cummings, and Robert "Bob" Goetz were the first to file two weeks ago for elective office in the 2000 campaign.

The filing period began July 5, in Mower County and concludes Friday.

Mower County commissioner races always attract a great deal of attention. However, there are no contests – yet – for seats on the county board.

Cummings of rural Lansing is the "dean" of county commissioners, having served more years than any other county board member.

The District No. 1 county commissioner is seeking his sixth four-year term on the county board.

Ray Tucker, Dexter, has filed for re-election to District No. 2 on the county board and Gebhardt is the second SWCD supervisor to file for re-election.

The first, Goetz of Austin, is running for another term as SWCD District No. 5’s representative.

Both the Minnesota House and Senate office-holders are up for re-election this year.

To date, incumbent state Sen. Pat Piper (DFL-Austin) has not filed yet for re-election.
