Disc golf player going to nationals

Chris Schmidt, an Owatonna High School freshman, will be a member of the Minnesota team going to the 2000 National Disc Golf Championships being held in Ann Arbor, Mich.

Chris Schmidt, an Owatonna High School freshman, will be a member of the Minnesota team going to the 2000 National Disc Golf Championships being held in Ann Arbor, Mich., from July 30 to Aug. 6. He will be one of 25 Minnesota Disc Golf players going to this tournament.
Chris is one of three generations of Schmidts playing Disc Golf out of Todd Park in Austin. He is the son of Tim Schmidt of Austin and Natalie Plumley of Owatonna. Chris is the grandson of former Pacelli High School football coach Pete Schmidt.
Chris has been playing disc golf since 1990. He has played all around many parts of the United States. He has five Minnesota state titles to his credit this year. He is ranked No. 1 in the state of Minnesota in his age bracket. He also is the leading player to win the Minnesota Sundog Disc Golf Championship Series this year.
