Austin continues to celebrate its Pigs in the City event, and now it’s even easier. There’s a map available to find all the little piggies in the community.
It could be a great way for a family to spend an afternoon – to a have a pig scavenger hunt.
The maps will also help visitors to Austin find the pigs with ease. Residents can utilize the map printed on 4C of today’s edition of Lifestyles. Or maps are available at the Austin Area Chamber of Commerce and downtown businesses.
Although the Target pig, "Sign of the Times," is still on the map, it’s not where it’s supposed to be. That pig was one of the unfortunate vicitms of crime and was stolen a couple of weeks ago.
There are other pigs throughout the city that have been vandalized. These 400-pound decorated masterpieces are still worthy of checking out. Despite the vandalism, the pigs are still works of art.
It’s unfortunate that all the pigs cannot be displayed in their original, unmarred glory.
To those who would attempt to ruin this terrific display of community pride, please have respect for the hard work that folks invested in the pigs.
The map is intended to be a tool for those who wish to appreciate the pigs. Let’s keep it that way.
