Melissa Ehret fired a one-hitter in game one, striking out eight and walking no one. Becky Churchill got the only hit off her in the fifth inning.

"That was probably the best game I have seen her pitch," L/P coach Tom Clements. "Her ball was really moving."

Kari Leif, Amy Bickler, and Laura Nelson all picked up two RBI in the game. L/P scored two in the first, four in the fourth and three more in the fifth. They smacked eight hits in the game.

Bickler threw a three-hitter in game two. She struck out three and walked three.

"It was the first complete game of the season for her," Clements said. "With two exceptional pitchers we should do well in conference doubleheaders the rest of the way."

L/P got nine hits in the game with Bickler, Buffy Judd, Jessie Schnieder and Tammy May all going 2-for-4. Jill Landherr hit an RBI single for Southland. Betsy Matheis stroked a double and Churchill got the third hit for the Rebels.

"I’m proud with how well we played today," Clements said. "We were missing three starters and a total of five players who were in Mexico. Carrie Drees playing out of position at third base did a great job. With our depth and desire we should continue to do well."

L/P next plays at Rushford-Peterson next Thursday.
