The Austin boys soccer team had one of its best showing against Rochester Mayo in program history, but it wasn’t enough to get a win.
The Packers had to settle for a scoreless tie as both teams had close calls come up short in Rochester Thursday.
“I think this is the best result we’ve ever had against Mayo as a program,” Austin head coach Jens Levisen said. “It was a solid team effort and everybody did the things I wanted them to do.”
The Spartans (1-2-2 overall, 1-0-1 Big Nine) had a shot deflect of the post and Austin’s Francisco Torres had a shot go just wide off a pass from Jake Hagen-Erickson.
Collin Weisert had 11 saves in net for Austin (2-0-1 overall, 1-0-1 Big Nine) and the Packers attempted 11 shots of their own.
