Lansing Township voters returned Township Board chairman Roger Levy to office Tuesday.
Levy did not file for the election to have his name placed on ballots. However, he reconsidered and waged a write-in campaign and won.
Levy received 82 write-in votes, compared to runner-up Robert Reimers, who collected 41.
Dave Forland received 14 and David Pyburn, 9.
In all, 155 ballots were cast, including nine left blank.
Only Levy’s three-year term had expired, but voters also elected a new township clerk.
Kristine Allas was elected to her first two-year term as township clerk. Allas received 128 votes to lead all vote-getters.
She was named deputy clerk last year when Doug Thompson announced he would retire at the end of his current term.
That’s also when the township officials hope to push forward grant applications to help fund the newly approved $4.83 water and sanitary sewer improvements project.
The project received a 70 percent approval rating in a survey taken of residents in the targeted population areas of the township.
n Also Tuesday, Adams Township voters re-elected Tom Mullenbach to another two-year term. Mullenbach received 18 votes or the same total as Stephen J. Pitzen, who was re-elected township clerk.
