Davina and the Vagabonds will be hitting the Paramount stage in less than a week.
Many patrons who have seen them perform have already stopped in to purchase tickets.
Nearly everyone has gushed about the band’s past performances, describing them as high energy and loads of fun. However, I have gotten a lot of questions from other patrons who have never heard of them and want to know what to expect.
I chatted with long time Paramount patron Dale “Rosie” Rosenthal, who, unsolicited on the first day I met him, raved about seeing Davina the last time they performed at the Paramount.
He said that patrons can expect low-down, dirty blues. It is big time professional entertainment and the price is right. Davina and the Vagabonds can play anything from blues to Dixie to rock and roll.”
The band consists of lead singer Davina Sowers, a classically trained pianist whose soulful voice has been compared to a mix of Bonnie Raitt, Etta James and Amy Winehouse.
She is backed by Michael Carvale on upright bass, Andy Artz on drums, Dan Eikmeier on trumpet and Ben Link on trombone.
In fact, Rosie mentioned that he has never heard a trombone player play like Ben.
If you would like to hear a fresh twist on New Orleans-style music or even are simply interested in trying something new, I encourage you to check out this band.
Tickets can be purchased online at paramounttheatre.org or by calling 434-0934.
