Sylvia E. Johnson, 93, of Austin, died Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2011, at Deer Crest Assisted Living, Red Wing, Minn.

Sylvia Elizabeth Johnson was born March 4, 1918, at Le Roy, Minn., the daughter of Johannes E. and Amanda (Nelson) Johnson. Sylvia graduated from Austin High School and enlisted in the Navy in 1943. Following her service in the Navy, she lived in Alhambra, Calif., where she was the administrative assistant to the C.F.B Company president. Following her retirement, she moved back to Austin. Sylvia was a lifelong member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church.

Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents, five sisters and three brothers.

She is survived by several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 13, at Oakwood Cemetery in Austin, with Todd Portinga, AiM officiating. Clasen-Jordan Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Memorials are preferred to St. Olaf Lutheran Church, Austin.
