Austin sent a team of six to compete in the Mankato USTA sanctioned Junior Team Tennis 18 and under tournament June 30.

Austin won three out of its four dual matches and came in third in its pool based on total points for the tourney.

Austin’s team included Grace Gravelle, Alicia Sforza, Josh Detwiler, Pat Wagner and Colten Detwiler along with Michelle Hartmann of Albert Lea and was coached by Gary Olson.

Austin was led by, Josh Detwiler who was 4-1 for the day and Alicia Sforza who was 3-1.

A total of 15 teams were involved in the 18 and under bracket in three pools.

JTT uses a format of one boys singles, one girls singles, one boys doubles team, one girls doubles team and one mixed doubles team. One guy and one girl is allowed to play twice if the team has fewer than eight players. The winner of a match is decided by the total games won in the five matches.
