Jay Lutz won $50 for designing and drawing a new logo to be used by the Austin Public Library.
The Friends of the Library organization sponsored the contest.
According to Christine Rojo, library director, there were 12 entries in the contest and Lutz’s was chosen because of "the way he combined technology with books."
The new logo will be used on the library’s newsletter and stationery, as well as new personalized plastic book bags, which will replace the Southeast Libraries Cooperating (SELCO) bags now in use.
Lutz said he started with the building, opened new in 1996, and then combined images of a computer and an open book for his final effort.
