An alleged assault at the 900 block of First Ave. SW in Austin left one woman with a broken bone in her right leg last weekend.

According to Police Chief Brian Krueger, Tanesha Hanson, 31, went to the victim’s house after the two got into an argument. When Hanson arrived at the home, the duo continued arguing. Hanson reportedly said she was going to hurt the victim before the two started fighting.

The victim claimed she was only defending herself when she hurt her leg. Her son later took her to Mayo Clinic Health System in Austin, from where she was taken to St. Marys Hospital in Rochester. However, the victim didn’t report the alleged assault to police until Tuesday afternoon, a couple days after the alleged incident.

When questioned, Hanson said she didn’t instigate the fight, but the alleged victim did. The fight was reportedly over a boyfriend, Krueger said.

A police report has been forwarded to the Mower County Attorney’s office and is pending formal charges.
