Edith Hintz, 72

Edith Hintz, 72, of Kiester, died Sunday, Sept. 18, 2011, at the Good Samaritan Society in Albert Lea. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Grace United Methodist Church in Kiester. Visitation will be held 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells, and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. The Rev. Cherie Daniel will officiate and burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Kiester. Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells is in charge of arrangements.

Hintz

Edith was born Feb. 14, 1939, the daughter of Roland and Marion (Steckelberg) Courrier in Albert Lea. She was united in marriage to Llewellyn C. “Louie” Hintz on Oct. 22, 1957, at the Rice Lake Church. Edith was a long time employee of the Kiester/USC school district. She was a former Kiester city council member. Edith was an active member of Grace United Methodist Church in Kiester, having been the organist for over 35 years, and active in the UMW and circle. Edith served her church in many other capacities. She enjoyed her activities with the Red Hat Ladies and playing cards with her friends. She loved watching her grandchildren play sports, and was an avid fan of the Minnesota Twins, Vikings and Gophers. Edith immensely loved to play Scrabble with her sisters every chance she could.

Edith is survived by three children: Lori (Tony) Trostem of Blooming Prairie, Linda (Dan) Willaby of Kiester and Terry (Melissa Halverson) Hintz of Shakopee; five grandchildren: Nicole Trostem (Ryan Long), Adam (Jennifer) Trostem, Erik Willaby, Preston Hintz and Ethan Hintz; two great-grandchildren: Ava Long and Zander Trostem; two sisters: Virginia (Orville) Lamb of Alexandria and Julie (Mike) Brooks of Bloomington; three sisters-in-law: Georgene Ackerman, LeAnn (Kermit) Bronson of Glenville and Harriet Anderson of Northwood, Iowa; along with many nieces, nephews and their families.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Louie, in 2010, and two brothers-in-law.
