Twenty-one propane tanks, valued collectively at $1,000, were stolen from an Austin hardware store sometime late Thursday.
The full tanks were taken from Ruskell’s Hardware at the Oak Park Mall after someone cut a lock on a cage holding the tanks outside the building. The incident was reported to police Friday at 8:30 a.m.
This is the second report of stolen propane tanks in recent weeks — three were reported stolen from an Apollo convenience store in west Austin on Jan. 23.
It is unclear if the incidents are related and no suspects were identified in either case.
