Edward Boettcher

Edward Gustaf Boettcher, 91, 700 N.W. 1st Dr. Austin, died Wednesday, March 31, 1999, at Burr Oak Manor in Austin.

Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Harlan and Eileen Lysne, Austin, John Lysne, Austin, Brian and LaDonna Boettcher, Mankato, Gary and Donna Boettcher, Bullhead City, Ariz. Michael Boettcher, Austin; daughter and son-in-law, Kristi and Richard Tracy, Austin; 15 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren brother John Boettcher; sister, Martha Boettcher, both of Pierre, S.D.; nieces, nephew and cousins.

Service: 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 6, at St. Olaf Lutheran Church with the Rev. James I. Mikkelson officiating.

Interment: Oakwood Cemetery

Visitation: Friends may call at Worlein Funeral Home from 5-7 p.m. Monday and one hour before the service on Tuesday.

Charles Hudson

Charles W. "Bill" Hudson, Rochester, died March 30, 1999 following a short illness at St. Mary’s Hospital.

He was born Nov. 4, 1919 and raised in Duncan, Okla. He married Eleanor Beth Stowe on April 18, 1944 at Washington, D.C. He graduated from Duncan High School and Hills Business College, Oklahoma City, Okla. in 1936. He joined the Navy in March 1942 and served as Chief Petty Officer aboard the USS St. Paul until his discharge in 1946. He then joined IBM in St. Louis, Mo, transferring to Kansas City, Mo, then to Rochester in 1956. He was a manager in Personnel Services. He worked for KROC radio and TV from 1970-73 in news and sports. In 1973 he transferred to KAUS radio in Austin then to KAAL-TV Austin as news anchor until he retired in 1981. He was invited to return to KAAL-TV for one year in 1986. He umpired baseball in both little league and Southern Minnesota League. He and Bernie Lusk co-broadcasted John Marshall High School football and Minnesota Gopher football. He was a member of VFW Post 1215, American Legion, Masonic Lodge of Independence, Mo., and past member of BPOE Elks Lodge. he enjoyed golf, senior bowling, and volunteer work for the VFW.

He is survived by his wife Eleanor; daughters Janet Kay (Mrs Roy) Stevenson, Rochester, Judy Lynn (Mrs. Darryl) Moyer, Rochester; 13 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren.

Service: 1 p.m. Friday, April 2, at Meadow Park Church of Christ with the Rev. Ron Wernimont officiating.

Interment: Grandview Memorial Gardens

Visitation: 6:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday (April 1) at Macken Funeral Home also one hour before the service at the church on Friday.

Elsie Schulz

Elsie H. Schulz, of Austin, died Wednesday, March 31, 1999 at Bear Creek Rehab Center in Rochester.

Services: 11 a.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church of Waltham with The Rev John F. Perling officiating.

Interment: at the church cemetery

Visitation: Friends may call at Worlein Funeral Home from 5-7 p.m. Sunday and at the church one hour before the service.

Amreta Joel

Amreta Joel, 79, of 1803 5th Ave. S.W., died Tuesday, March 30, 1999 at her home.

Services are pending and arrangements will be announced later by Mayer Funeral Home.

Fred Machacek, 87

Fred Elmer Machacek, 87, of Austin died Tuesday, March 30, at the Colony Home.

He is survived by sisters and brother-in-law Rita Seeger, Myrtle, Ora and Elmer Yaroshek, Austin; nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers and three sisters.

Casket bearers will be Brian Bridgeman, Dan Maloney, Kevin Maloney, Dave Maloney, John Taylor, Mathew Taylor

Service: 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 2, 1999 at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary Chapel with The Rev. Randy Petersen officiating

Interment: Grandview Cemetery in Austin, with Olaf B. Damm Post#1216 Veterans of Foreign Wars in charge of Military Rites.

Visitation: From 5-8 p.m. at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary on Thursday and on Friday one hour before the service at the chapel.

Mable Srsen

Mable M. Srsen, 88, of Route 1, Blooming Prairie, died Wednesday afternoon, March 31, at St. Olaf Hospital in Austin.

Services are pending with Blooming Prairie Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Caroline Durben

Caroline Durben, 87, a resident of St. Mark’s Lutheran Home, died Wednesday, March 31, 1999 at the Austin Medical Center.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law Donna (David) Schieck, Waltham; three sons Silvan Durben, Austin, LaVern Durben, Minneapolis, Donald Durben, Austin; a sister Linda Schultz, Thorp, Wis.

Service: A funeral mass will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. on Monday, April 5, 1999 at St. Augustine Catholic Church with Father Paul Nelson officiating.

Interment: Calvary Cemetery

Visitation: There will be a 4 p.m. CCW Rosary and a 7 p.m. wake service on Sunday at Mayer Funeral Home where friends may call from 4-8 p.m. and also from 9-10 a.m. on Monday.

Ted Colescott

Ted E. Colescott, 96, Austin, died April 1, 1999 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester.

He is survived by son and daughter-in-law Ted G. and Kathryn N. Colescott, Rochester; daughter and son-in-law Gwen C. and John E. Mullen, Alexandria, Va.; four grandchildren; sister, Sydney Colescott, Kokomo, Ind.; many nieces and nephews.

Service: 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 5th at First United Methodist Church with the Revs. Patricia M. Toschak and Rev. Becky Jo Thilges officiating.

Interment: Oakwood Cemetery

Visitation: Friends may call at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary Sunday from 4-7 p.m.

In lieu of flowers family prefers memorials to the Ted and Inez Memorial Scholarship Fund, The First United Methodist Church, or to one of many service organizations in which he was active.
