Elaine Ahles, 66, of Austin, died Saturday morning, June 19, 2010, at the Austin Medical Center.
Elaine Dorothy Langerud was born Sept. 2, 1943, in Faribault, Minn. to John Arthur and Edna Dorothy (Thibodeau) Langerud. She went to public schools in Blooming Prairie and Claremont and graduated on May 25, 1961, from Claremont High School. Elaine married Jimmie A. Ahles on Aug. 5, 1961, in Beloit, Wis. She continued her education at Austin Junior College and on June 1, 1966, received her Associate of Arts degree with Distinction. Elaine worked at Hormel Foods as an accounting clerk in the corporate office retiring after 39 years of service. Jimmie and Elaine lived all of their married lives in Austin. Elaine enjoyed bowling with the Hormel Girls in earlier years. She also liked to camp, gamble and travel. She loved spending time with her family.
Surviving are her husband, Jimmie of Austin; daughter, Deborah (Philip) Van Syoc of Cedar Falls, Iowa; son, Dean (Chera-Lynn) Ahles of Austin; five grandchildren, McKala, McKinze, Alyssa, Drew, Hailey; two brothers, Raymond (Betty) Langerud of St. Louis, Mo., Gordon Langerud of Rockton, Ill.; two sisters, Joanne (Wayne) Finne of Rochester, Kathy (Steve) Canterbury of Harmony; half-brother, Jimmy Langerud of Wisconsin; nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Edna; sister, Helen; brother, William “Billy.”
Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, June 23, 2010, at Worlein Funeral Home Chapel with Sister Lorraine Loecher officiating. Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery, Austin. Friends may call at Worlein Funeral Home one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. The family prefers memorials to the American Red Cross.
