Neelan Ferrington

Neelan Guy Ferrington, age 88, of Blooming Prairie, Minn., died Thursday, April 29, 2010, at Prairie ManorCare Center, Blooming Prairie.
Neelanwas born Nov. 8, 1921 in rural Blooming Prairie to Clarence Guy and Stella Christine (Nelson) Ferrington. He attended country school and grew up on the family farm north of Blooming Prairie.  On July 25, 1950 he married Teresa Schmitz in Blooming Prairie.
Neelan worked as a milk hauler at Peterson Implement, a heavy equipment operator with Ulland Brothers and later with the Steele County Highway Department, retiring in 1980.  He also ran the family farm for many years.  
A lifelong resident of Blooming Prairie, Neelan enjoyed old-time music, car racing, hunting, fishing, traveling and being with friends and family.  He and Teresa looked forward to their 16 years of snow birding to Arizona each winter and several international cruises.  Anyone who knew him well has a story of his mischievous nature.  Neelan was a member of First Lutheran Church in Blooming Prairie.
Family left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Teresa Ferrington, Blooming Prairie, Minn.; daughter: Mary (William) Bussert, Faribault, Minn.; sons: Stanley (Lynne) Ferrington, Albert Lea, Minn., Kenneth (Krys) Ferrington, Otsego, Minn.; eight grandchildren: Lisa Charlton and Nathan Bussert, Faribault, Minn., Sheila (Kurt) Grobe of Kiester, Minn., Connie (Chris) Weis of Aurora, Colo., Jason Ferrington, Winona, Minn. (fiancé Sarah Berg of St. Charles), Jeremy (Christy) Ferrington, Winona, Minn.,Robert Ferrington (fiancé Judy Muller) of Long Prairie, Minn., and Justin Yonker of Sauk Centre, Minn.; eight great-grandchildren: Breannca Bussert, Brenan Charlton, Jacob Grobe, Michael Weis, Marcus Weis, Isaac Ferrington, Kylie Yonker, Mariah Yonker; one sister: Eunice Gross, Blooming Prairie, Minn.; family friend Coleen Siirila; daughter-in-law: Rita Ferrington; numerous nieces and nephews. 
He is reunited with his parents, son, Daniel Ferrington, and brother, Stanley William Neil Ferrington.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, May 3, 2010, at First Lutheran Church, Blooming Prairie with Rev. Charles Leonard and Rev. Heidi Heimgartner officiating. Interment will be atUnion Cemetery near Bixby. Friends may call at Worlein-Blooming Prairie Funeral Home from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday and at the church one hour before the service on Monday. The family prefers memorials to First Lutheran Church or Prairie Manor Care Center in lieu of flowers.
