Jeffrey Larson

Jeffrey Carlyle Larson, 67 of Austin, Minn. died Thursday March 25, 2010 at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester, Minn.
 Jeffrey was born Sept. 27, 1942 at Long Beach, Calif. the son of Virgil C. and Helen (Highby) Larson.
The family moved toAlbert Lea when Jeff was a young child where he graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1960. He graduated from St. Olaf College in 1964 with a BA degree in History and Economics. 
He was married to Sonia Marie Sabo on Sept. 21, 1963 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Scarville, Iowa. Jeffrey served in the US Air Force from 1964 to 1968 and was stationed at Fairchild Air Force Base, Spokane, Wash. In 1968 the Larson’s moved to Austin where Jeff began is career with the Hormel Foods Corporation Purchasing Department, where he worked until hi retirement in 2005.
 He was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church and enjoyed many pastimes and hobbies, including, biking, hiking, yard work, bird watching and attending the opera. He also had a great love for cars.
 He is survived by his wife: Sonia Larson, Austin, Minn.; daughter: Christine Larson, Minneapolis, Minn.; son: Craig and Maria Estella Larson, Eden Prairie, Minn.; grandchildren: Jamie, Joshua and Julianna; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Brian Sabo, Edina, Minn.; Karen Smith, Edina, Minn.; Kathleen Baerenwald and Gary Ethofer, Reno, Nev.; Daniel and Victoria Sabo, Bellingham, Wash.; an aunt, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Jeffrey was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Olaf Lutheran Church, Austin, Minn., with the Rev. Kristi Koppel officiating. Interment will be at Graceland Cemetery, Albert Lea, Minn.  Friends may call at the Clasen-Jordan Mortuary on Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. and at the church for one hour before the service on Tuesday. There will be no reviewal.  The family prefers memorials to St. Olaf Lutheran Church or the Austin Symphony Orchestra.
