Roughly eight gallons of gasoline spilled at an Austin gas station Saturday when a woman stopped watching her pump, but the mess was quickly cleaned up.
The incident occurred at Reed’s Fourth Avenue at around 4 p.m. Firefighters responded to the spill, but because of the large amount of water on the ground because of melting ice, the gas was diluted, and the store wasn’t shut down, according to a police report.
The 36-year-old woman told police she went into the store for just a minute or two while her car was fueling. When she noticed gas spilling, she quickly ran to her vehicle, the report states.
The woman was cited for not being present at the pump while fueling her vehicle.
