Beverly Gilbert

Beverly H. Gilbert, 82, of Austin died Tuesday, March 16, 2010 at Comforcare Good Samaritan Center in Austin.
Beverly was born on Sept. 12, 1927 to Herman and Lydia (Stellmaker) Jahns in Spring Valley, Minn. She graduated from Spring Valley High School. She married John Gilbert on Aug. 8, 1948 in Spring Valley. She taught school in the Spring Valley area briefly before moving to Austin in 1951.
Beverly loved spending time with her children and grandchildren and she also enjoyed traveling, cooking, baking and the YMCA walking club.
She is survived by her children: Craig (Laurie) Gilbert, Venice, Calif., Curtis (Theresa) Gilbert, Austin and Lori Fischer, Eau Claire, Wis.; grandchildren, Amy (Mike) Verhulst, Betsy (Darius) Semmens, Hans Gilbert, Julia (John) Borcherding, Chris Fischer (Bethany Pederson), Jesse Fischer, Adam Fischer; great-grandchildren, Connor, Lauren, Jack and Victoria Verhulst, Kira and Cache Semmens, eelee Fischer, and Jude Borcherding; brother, Burton Jahns, Wabasha, Minn.; brother-in-law, Kenneth (JoAnn) Gilbert, Austin; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; brothers, Howard and Neven; sisters, Lavina, Doris, and Katherine; and son-in-law, Larry Fischer.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 20 at 11 a.m. at the First Congregational Church with the Rev. Elizabeth H. Endicott officiating. Visitation will be held at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. and at the church on Saturday for one hour before the service.
