Wade Hendrikson

Wade Bradley Hendrikson, 51, died Wednesday, March 10, 2010 of natural causes at his home “a piece of the heartland” in Freeborn County. 
He was born Feb. 14, 1959, in Austin, the son of Burnell and Darlene (Abbott) Hendrikson. He attended school in Austin, where he graduated from Austin High School and then attended Austin Vo-Tech for welding. He worked for various manufacturing companies, the most recent being Progress Casting of Albert Lea as a CNC operator. On Sept. 19, 1987, he was united in marriage to Kelly Sawyer in Lyle, Minn. They were later divorced. He was a baptized and confirmed member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church, as well as a member of the Sons of the American Legion. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, playing and coaching hockey and riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle. A compassionate person, Wade participated in many “rides” for charity and always remembered the Veterans “rides.” Wade loved a good time, was blessed with good friends and appreciated good music. He was a self-taught musician. The guitar was his chosen instrument of expression. He will be missed.
Survivors include his parents, Burnell and Darlene Hendrikson of McAllen, Texas formerly of Austin; two sisters, Shawn (Kelly) Mulleady of Ramsey and Rhonda and her son Matthew; nephew, Alex (Melissa Chapman) Nystel; niece, LaurEl (Kenneth) Hiller; great-niece, Samantha Hiller; great-nephew, Jordan Hiller; aunts and uncles, Robert and Aggie Hendrikson of Austin, Morley Abbott of Lucknow, Ontario, Canada and Sheila (Gordon) Gieg of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada; and  many other relatives and friends. 
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Chester and Laura Hendrikson; maternal grandparents, George Ira and Ella (Abbott) Hand; his paternal step-grandmother, Norma Hendrikson and maternal step-grandfather, John Hand.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, March 17, 2010, at St. Olaf Lutheran Church with the Rev. Ron Barnett officiating. Interment will follow the service at Grandview Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, March 16 at the Worlein Funeral Home and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.
