Arthur Johnson

Arthur Richard Johnson, 79, of Austin, died Sunday, March 7, 2010 at Seasons Hospice in Rochester.
Arthur was born May 11, 1930 in Austin to Alfred and Delia (Farrell) Johnson. From 1951 to 1953 he served in the United States Marine Corps, during the Korean War. For a time, Arthur worked at Hormel Foods.
On Sept. 5, 1959, Arthur married Mary Jane Perl in Austin. They were later divorced.
Arthur loved spending time with his significant other, Darlene. He enjoyed upland bird hunting and loved to fish with family and friends. He also enjoyed bird watching and could tell you the name of any bird.
Survivors include his significant other, Darlene, Austin; two sons, Murray (Jane) Johnson, Sewanee, Tenn., Scott (Jolene) Johnson, Austin; five grandchildren, Zachary, Jamie, Meghan, Noah, Abraham; sister-in-law, Ruth Johnson, Austin; special friends, Dan (Michelle), Rochester; former wife, Mary Jane Johnson, Austin; many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; two sisters and six brothers.
Memorial services will be held at 5 p.m. on Thursday, March 11, 2010 at Mayer Funeral Home with the Rev. Kristi Koppel and Father Joe Fogal officiating. Friends may call one hour before the service at Mayer Funeral Home on Thursday. Military rites will be by American Legion Post #91.
