Clarence Evans

Clarence Reinold Evans, 82, of Austin, died Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2010 at his home after a short battle with cancer.
Clarence was born March 30, 1927 in Pipestone, Minn. to William and Susanna (Steines) Evans. He attended school in rural Pipestone and then enlisted in the United States Navy. On June 6, 1950 he married Maxine Weinkauf at Pipestone. Clarence attended trade school in Lincoln, Neb. Clarence and Maxine raised three children and also ran Bill & Ruby’s Laundromat for several years. Clarence worked for Gordon Electric in Austin before starting his own business-Evans Appliance Repair
Clarence enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, gardening and spending time with his family, friends, and especially his dog, Gretta. He was a loving and compassionate husband, father and grandfather. He will be dearly missed.
Survivors include his children, Candy (John) Drees, Austin, Curt (Tori) Evans, Austin; grandchildren, Amanda (David), Joshua, Carrie, Erin, Laura, Jacob; siblings, Harold Evans, Ward, S.D., Lois Medill, Pipestone.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Maxine, on May 23, 2002; son, Craig Evans; parents; sisters, Agnes Brower, Pricilla Johannsen, Renanilda Powers; brothers, Arnold, Myron, Virgil, Basel, Vincent, Gerald.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 23, 2010 at St. Augustine Catholic Church with Father Joe Fogal officiating. There will be a 6:30 p.m. wake service on Friday at Mayer Funeral Home where friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. and also one hour before the service at the church on Saturday. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery with military rites by American Legion Post #91.
The honorary casket bearer will be Joshua Evans. The casket bearers will be Laura Drees, Jacob Evans, David Sanchez, Mark Schaefer, Jane Olberding, Jim Weinkauf.
