An 28-year-old Austin man accused of slashing another man with a knife pleaded not guilty to felony charges on Thursday.

Herbonardt Linter Jim, 28, was charged with second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon and terroristic threats, both felonies. He also faces a separate misdemeanor assault charge.

Jim’s attorney requested a speedy trial. A date has not yet been set, but the next court date will be within 90 days.

The incident occurred at a house on the 300 block of 18th Street Northwest at around 11 p.m. Jan. 9.

According to a police report, another person in the home, a 25-year-old male, called police because he was scared of what Jim might do.

Earlier, the reportee was cut by a knife when he tried to stop Jim from using it against another man. According to the report, Jim said he was going to kill that other man with the weapon.

The 25-year-old male subsequently took all the knives he could find in the kitchen and hid them elsewhere in the house, the report states.

The suspect also allegedly said he broke the thumb of the 18-year-old man he was threatening. When police arrived, the 18-year-old was bloody and appeared to be heavily intoxicated. He refused medical attention.

A fourth man, 27, was arrested for allegedly cursing at officers and being combative while they were in the house.
