Larry Mikkelson

Larry Dean Mikkelson, 63, of Austin died Sunday, Sept. 6, 2009 at his home in Austin.
 He was born June 21, 1946 in Austin to Muriel and Lucy (Baglo) Mikkelson.
Larry graduated from Austin High School and was self-employed doing garage door installation and roofing. He was married to Lois Fann Plotts on April 30, 1997 in Las Vegas. He was a member of the American Legion and the Eagles clubs.
 Larry enjoyed spending time with family and friends. An avid outdoors man, he liked camping, tending the campfire, fishing and golfing. He also enjoyed trips to the casino and loved playing Texas Hold’em. His birthday being June 21, the traditional longest day and first day of summer, he would make his birthday last the entire month of June. He liked polka music and was especially fond of giving everyone as much “grief” as he could find. 
Larry is survived by his former wife and caregiver, Lois Mikkelson, Austin; son, Larry B. Mikkelson, Austin; daughter, LaRinda Mikkelson, Purdy, Mo.; stepchildren, Barb and Aaron Hann, Austin, Sue and Joe  Meineke, Austin, Mike and Missy Plotts, Bemidji, Minn.; a “boatload” (17) of grandchildren; mother, Lucy Allen, Austin; sister, Joyce and Wayne Heard, Austin; stepbrothers and sisters: Gary, Roger, Sandy, Marty, Sherry, Danny, Becky, Ron and Linda.
He was preceded in death by his father, Muriel Mikkelson; stepfather, Earl Allen; brothers, Don, Roger and Lyle Mikkelson; in-laws, Art and Serene Fann; friends, Sharyl Ann Nelson and Ken Brech.
 A time of remembrance will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2009 at Austin Post 91 American Legion Clubrooms, 809 12th St. S.W., Austin. Interment will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Oakland/Trondhjem Lutheran Cemetery.
