Lloyd A. Kosel, 93
Lloyd A. Kosel, 93, of Austin, died at Adams Healthcare Center Wednesday evening, April 29, 2009.
He was born July 24, 1915, in Sanborn, Minn. the son of Paul and Anna (Schroeder) Kosel. On Nov. 11, 1938, Lloyd married Beatrice Arp in Alden, Minn. Lloyd served with the United States Army during World War II, where he was wounded and awarded the Purple Heart. Beatrice died on July 5, 1971. He later married Norma Mills who died in December of 2004. Lloyd made his home in Austin for the past 75, where he was employed by Geo A. Hormel Company in the bacon mold department. He was very proud of his carpentry and wood refinishing skills. He also enjoyed traveling and camping. He was member of the First United Methodist Church, American Legion Post 91 and VFW Post 1216 all of Austin.
Survivors include his daughter, Mavis (Tom) Simonson, Springville, Calif.; four step-children, Joe (Lulu) Mills, Austin, Jim (Bonnie) Mills, Worthington, Jay (Chris) Mills, Lynnwood, Wash. and David (Amy) Mills, St. Peter, Mo.; nine grandchildren, Nate, Rebecca, Terra, John, Joshua, John, Kay, Allison and Jerry; several great-grandchildren; caretaker and friend, Cathie Sayles, Austin; many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two wives; one daughter, Diane; three sisters and four brothers.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 6, 2009 at First United Methodist Church with the Reverend Pat Toschak, officiating. Interment with military honors by American Legion Post 91, will follow the service at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. The Worlein Funeral Home in Austin is in charge of arrangements.
