William Biewen

William Francis Biewen, 81 of Follansbee, W.Va. passed away Thursday, April 9, 2009 at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, Pa.
William was born Aug. 17, 1927 in Wells, Minn., son of the late Wellington and Evangeline Craychee Biewen. 
He left school to join the Navy at age 17. He was retired from the United States Navy, serving in World War II, Korea and Vietnam, where he was U.S. Navy Chief Gunner Mate from 1945-1964. He retired from Weirton Steel Corp, was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Follansbee, W.Va., Past Commander of the Follansbee American Legion Post 45, Follansbee VFW and the Hooverson Heights Sportsman’s Club.
He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, crossword puzzles, reading and his daily visits with the Kmart Breakfast Club.
William is survived his daughters: Teresa Ann Marker (Edward), Wellsburg, W.Va.,Kelly E. Eggert, of Weirton, W.Va; son, Charles W. Biewen (Melanie), Wellsburg; brother, Gene Biewen (Nnl) Mancato, Minn.; seven grandchildren: Zachary Grimm, Lacee and Dakota Marker, Kayla Patterson,  Frankie, Brody and Jonah Eggert; his faithful, loving dog, Daphne.
He was also preceded in death his stepmother, Donna Biewen; wife, Betty Lee Reitter Biewen, who passed away in 1991; son, Frankie Biewen; brother, Robert Biewen; sister, Jackie Bushlack; and granddaughter, Jacqueline Marker, in 1988.
Friends will be received on Monday, April 13, 2009 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the James Funeral Home, 1245 Main St. Follansbee, W.Va. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church at 10 a.m. with Father Pete Giannamore, as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Johns Cemetery, Colliers, W.Va. Full Military Honors will be conducted by the Ohio Valley Veterans Memorial Squad.
