Arnold N. Roper, 84
Arnold Neil Roper, 84, of Austin, died on Feb. 18, 2009 at the Austin Medical Center.
Arnold was born to Pete and Lena Roper in Churdan, Iowa on Aug. 4, 1924. He graduated from Lake City High School. He farmed most of his life and later he was a custodian at the Austin High School. He was married to Oma Leege and later they were divorced. Arnold played baseball and he liked all sports. Camping was one of his favorite things. He was active in church work, taught Sunday school and called on the shut-ins. He delivered “Meals on Wheels” for several years.  He was president of the P.T.A. Arnold was baptized and confirmed. His faith was in Jesus Christ. Many times in his prayers, he thanked Jesus for being his Savior and best friend. He was married to Eileen Keller in 1978.
The survivors included his wife, Eileen Roper, Austin; three sons, Neil, St. Paul, Minn., Gary (Debbie), Oregon, Randy (Betty), Wyoming; two daughters, Deanna (Jim) Wagner, Rose Creek, Minn., Janine Roper (Terry), Missouri; several step-children; sister, Opal (Roger) Lenz, Iowa; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and friends. 
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Feb. 21, 2009 at 1:30 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church with the Reverend Robert Stohlman. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church for one hour before the service on Saturday. Clasen-Jordan Mortuary are in charge of arrangements.
