Two elderly passengers had to be extracted from their car and taken to the hospital early Saturday after their vehicle rolled over on Interstate 90.
Leonard Boysen, 80, and his wife Lavon, 73, both of Sac City, Iowa, were treated and released for neck and back injuries at Austin Medical Center, a spokeswoman said.
The incident occurred around 9:50 a.m. about one-half mile west of the Highway 56 intersection. According to a police report, the vehicle rolled over because of slick road conditions.
After their vehicle rolled, the Boysens were squeezed by their seat belts and had trouble breathing. They were unable to break their way out through the windshield, the report states.
Firefighters from the Austin Fire Department cut open the vehicle and safely removed the two passengers.
