Motorists will encounter a detour at the southbound Interstate 35 to eastbound Highway 14 ramp beginning Tuesday, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

The detour calls for motorists to continue south on I-35, take the Hope exit to northbound I-35 and drive back up to eastbound Highway 14.

The detour will be in place through Saturday and is necessary while crews pave southbound I-35.

This work is part of a three-year reconstruction of Highway 14 from Waseca to Owatonna, which includes a new interchange at I-35 and Highway 14.

Mathiowetz Construction Co., Sleepy Eye, is the prime contractor. The entire project is expected to be completed by June 2012.
