John P. “Jack” Bell, 82
John Philip “Jack” Bell, 82, was born Jan. 29, 1926, at Flores’ Hospital in Dodge Center, Minn., the first son of William “Earl” and Helen “Nell” (Edmond) Bell. They resided on the Bell farm in Ripley township. In 1935, the Bell’s moved to a farm near Claremont, Minn., and in 1937, they moved to the farm in Hayfield, Minn., where Jack has lived until 2000, when he moved to Hayfield.
Jack attended grade schools in Ripley, Ashland and Westfield Townships and finished his schooling at Hayfield High School, graduating in 1944. Jack enjoyed being outdoors, boating, fishing and waterskiing. He enjoyed going to the lake where his sister and brother-in-law were for many years. He liked taking movies and pictures of family and especially his three nieces and the many trips he went on with friends and family. In later years after retiring from farming he enjoyed gardening with Duane, his brother-in-law, and of course, going for coffee daily to see friends and play cards.
He is survived by, brother-in-law, Duane Norgaard; three nieces, Diane (Dale) Thompson, Cheryl (David) Pyburn and Carolyn (Bobby) Ko; three great-nephews, Andy Thompson, Corbin Norgaard and Nathan Ko; four great-nieces, Bridget (Jerry) Foote, Heather (Matt) Aarsvold, Jessica Thompson, Cassie Thompson; great-great-nephews, Jacob Foote and Tristen Aarsvold and great-great niece, Shayla Evenson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Bobby Bell and sister, Margaret Norgaard.
The funeral service for John Philip “Jack” Bell will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 14, 2008, at the First Presbyterian Church in Hayfield, Minn., with Reverend Charlie Talcott officiating. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery in Dodge Center, Minn. Visitation will be from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 14, 2008, at the First Presbyterian Church in Hayfield.
