Randy L. Willmert, 47
Randy Lee Willmert, loving husband, father, son, brother and friend, age 47, of Mankato, passed away unexpectedly Aug. 3, 2008.
He was born on Jan. 10, 1961 in Austin. Randy earned a degree in culinary arts at Albert Lea VoTech. Besides cooking, his other passions included playing golf and baseball. He also enjoyed following the Vikings, Twins and other local sports teams.
Family meant everything to Randy, and he and Margi felt blessed by God with the gift of their two children.
In his life and at his death, Randy was surrounded by the love of family and friends, including his wife and the love of his life, Margaret (Margi) Larson Willmert; he was a devoted father to his children, James, age five and Sophia, age two; father, Richard, and mother, Lorraine of Austin; siblings, Diane Gilbert (Mike), Rochester, Rick (Julie), Cottage Grove, Ruth Oelkers (Vance), Austin, Darlene Duholm (Randy), Austin, Debbie Willmert, Austin and Rita Seha, Rochester; father-in-law, Larry Marble, Richfield; nieces and nephews; great-nieces and nephews; aunts and uncles; brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws; cousins and many great friends.
He is preceded in death by younger brother, David; and grandparents, Clarence and Edith Langerud, and Ole and Dorothy Willmert; step-grandfather, Bob Reed; uncles; and mother-in-law, Mary Larson Marble.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday Aug. 8, 2008 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church 632 Broad St. South. Visitation will be held Thursday Aug. 7, 2008 from 4 – 8 p.m. at St John the Baptist Catholic Church and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Internment will be Saturday, Aug. 9, 2008 at 11 a.m. at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Austin.
