Irene Beckman

Irene Marie Beckman, 92 of Austin, Minn., died at Prairie Manor, Blooming Prairie, Minn. on May 29, 2008.
She was born June 27, 1915 to John and Sophia (Beneke) Baumgartner in Austin, where she grew up and attended school. She married Ray Beckman on Feb. 26, 1933 in Waltham. They farmed in the Waltham area for many years before moving to Austin. A member of St. Michael’s Lutheran Church, rural Waltham, Irene loved her garden, did a lot of quilting at church for many years, loved to bake cookies for everyone, especially the grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Raymond, Austin, MN; son, Ronald (Linda) Beckman, Sioux Falls; daughter, Sandra (Douglas) Novak, Blooming Prairie, Minn.; four grandchildren, Todd (Crystal) Beckman, Wade (Audrey) Beckman, Scott (Debra) Novak, Darci (Darian) Madsen; eight great-grandchildren; brother, Reverend J.O. (Vernita) Baumgartner of Fremont, Nebraska; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; two infant sons; two brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law.
Funeral services are at 2 p.m., Sunday, June 1 at St. Michael’s Lutheran Church, rural Waltham, Minn. Visitation was 3-5 p.m. Saturday at Worlein Funeral Home, Austin. Interment is at St. Michael’s Lutheran Cemetery, rural Waltham.
