Fuse rock, classical and folk music by combining a cello, a six-string electric cello, a Spanish classical guitar and a steel string guitar and you get an interesting, unique and pleasant sound.

That’s how Scott Anderson, Paramount Theatre’s manager of operations, described the duo Montana Skies, who perform in Austin this week.

In between gigs in Madison, Wis., and Chicago, classically trained musicians Jennifer and John Adams, known as Montana Skies, perform at the Paramount Theatre Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.

“They play many different styles of music in one show,” Anderson said. “It can appeal to everybody.”

The married duo describes their music as “classical fusion” and “new acoustic.”

Jonathan and Jennifer met while studying music at the University of Georgia, in Athens, Ga. The two assumed they would perform classical recitals together, until they found trouble coming across cello and guitar combos.

The two musicians found their performance niche with a variety of covers from Pink Floyd and Rush to Vivaldi and Bach, as well as their own originals.

Jonathan Adams states on their Web site, www.montanaskiesmusic.com: “The fact that ‘ready made’ repertoire is not available for our combination of instruments is really what pushes us to be more creative with our music. We love composing and arranging, and appreciate the opportunity to present old favorites, along with newer music, to our audiences.”
