Austin School Board to interview candidates Tuesday
Published 7:31 am Friday, July 16, 2010
The Austin School Board plans to appoint someone to their vacant seventh seat next week.
Four candidates will interview for the spot at a special meeting of the board Tuesday afternoon; the board aims to hold discussion and make their selection at the same meeting.
Jeff Ollman, Aaron DeVries, Lisa Peters and Robin Krueger will each be given a 45-minute interview in the aforementioned order in the district office conference room beginning with Ollman at noon.
The board meeting and the interviews are open to the public.
The seventh seat has been vacant since March when the board voted unanimously to oust Curt Rude, deciding a defamation suit he held against the district and a former superintendent posed a conflict of interest. The lawsuit was dismissed by a judge in June.
DeVries and Ollman ran unsuccessfully for the board last fall.
Nine people originally applied for the seat, before the district’s Personnel Committee — superintendent David Krenz, board chairman Dick Lees, former chairman Don Fox and treasurer Jeff Kritzer — narrowed the field down to four.
