MINNEAPOLIS — More moderate temperatures Thursday should bring some relief after a day of sticky, hot weather combined with funnel clouds, strong winds, hail and heavy rain.

Forecasters say that at 78, the dew point in the Twin Cities Wednesday was the highest in more than three years. The humidity pushed temperatures in the 90s to a heat index reading of 106.

A cool front Thursday should keep readings in the mid-80s.

National Weather Service employees are expected to assess storm damage near Northfield and Lakeville where law enforcement officers reported tornadoes and helped motorists whose vehicles were blown off the road.

Tornado warnings were also issued in central Minnesota, where funnel clouds were spotted near Sauk Centre and Glenwood.
