The Hormel Historic Home and Austin Convention and Visitors Bureau are teaming up to host a Food Network-style cooking class Saturday morning — just before lunch.

Cooking Tips and Trends: “Too Hot to Cook” is intended to showcase regional food vendors and what they have to offer. Jack Erwin, executive chef at The Cedars of Austin, will be showing those in attendance how to put together recipes that present well, but demand little attention.

“It’s a perfect opportunity to partner with the local chefs and local cooks,” said Cheryl Corey, executive director of the Austin Convention and Visitors Bureau.

During Erwin’s presentation, television cameras will hone in on the action, capturing the process from start to finish. Considering Erwin is pegged as a charismatic guy, Corey said the live and televised presentations are also expected to be entertaining, as well as informative.

Those who make it to the live presentation will have the opportunity to sample the recipes presented by Erwin. Attendees will also see a program complete with recipes from the show, suggested wines and coupons.

Doors for the event open at 9 a.m. The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. inside the Hormel Historic Home new kitchen expansion. Vendor tables will be open for visitors from 9 to 10 a.m. and 12 to 1 p.m.

Tickets are $10 in advance or $12 at the door. Tickets are available at the Hormel Historic Home, Convention and Visitors Bureau and Hardy Geranium.
