The Packers boys hockey team found out what it’s like to be on the winning side of a lop-sided score when they trounced Sleepy Eye 10-1 in Riverside Arena Tuesday.
Austin (4-5 overall) had eight different players score goals and they put five shots through in the third period.
“It was a really good win and it was nice to have running time on someone else. Because we’ve had it against us a few times.” Austin head coach Tim Peterson said.
The Packers out-shot Sleepy Eye 62-19 as they led 2-1 after one period of play. Austin beat Sleepy Eye (1-10 overall) 5-2 on the road Dec. 22, but Tuesday’s performance was a better effort.
“We played better as a team,” Peterson said. “We moved the puck and we dominated.”
Marcus Stoulil had two goals for Austin, Adam McMasters scored twice with an assist, Codie Miller had a goal and three assists, while Josh Hart, Isaac Gorman, and Devin McCune each had a goal and an assist. Joe McBeain and Bobby Astrup each scored once for the Packers.
