Austin firefighters extinguished a blaze that claimed a 24-by-12 shed and several collectibles Saturday afternoon.
Chief Deputy Mark May said the fire began around 4:15 p.m. Saturday at 26689 540th Ave. in Lansing.
Richard Riles, owner of the property, said he had been burning something in a barrel near the wooden shed and thought the fire was out. He went inside his house and a few minutes later realized the shed was on fire.
According to Austin Fire Commander Tom Schulte, the blaze claimed a van along with the shed and collectibles.
Riles told police he wasn’t sure how much the collectibles were worth, but it would be “quite a bit.”
Nobody was injured.
