Pacelli High School students will keep their Christmas cheer through mid-January.

On Saturday, Jan. 16, about 30 junior high and high school students will volunteer for Pacelli’s Christmas Tree Pick-up.

“They usually pick up about 200 trees,” said Erin Evans, Austin

Catholic Schools secretary.

Evans was a volunteer herself when she was a student at Pacelli.

The PHS fundraiser has been done for free-will donations for the past 11

years. Most people send $5 to $25 to the school for the service.

“It is up to them though, however much they are able and willing to give,” Evans

said.

The donations benefit the Austin Catholic Schools general fund.

The trees are hauled to a local farm, where they are made into mulch, Evans added.

Individuals can either call 437-3278 or email the Pacelli office at eevans@austincatholic.org to sign up to have their tree picked up. Trees need to be out on the boulevard by 8 a.m. Jan. 16. Free-will donations can be mailed to Pacelli High School, 311 Fourth St.

NW. Garbage haulers will also pick up trees for a fee.
