Bruins split with Chill

The Austin Bruins stayed in second place in the NAHL Central Division when they split a weekend series with the Alexandria Chill.
The Bruins (6-4-1 overall) won 4-2 in Austin Saturday and lost 5-1 in Alexandria (5-4-1 overall) Friday.
John Kirby put away Austin’s win over the Chill when he knocked in an empty netter with 26 seconds left. Reid Sturos had scored two third period goals to cut into the Bruins’ three-goal lead.
John Simonson of Grand Forks, N.D., had two goals in the win.
Tyler Bruggeman had 26 saves in the win for Austin.
Nicholas Lerr 30 saves in Friday’s loss, which saw the Chill score three times in the first period.
