Helen Jeanette Fiebiger, 87, of Blooming Prairie, died at Our House Assisted Living Monday afternoon, Aug. 23, 2010. She was born May 22, 1923, to Walter and Bernice (Schaefer) Jukes in New York Mills, grew up and attended school in Brownsdale and graduated from Austin High School in 1941. She married Richard Wanous in March of 1948 in Hayfield. Helen was widowed on June 1, 1969. She worked as a secretary at Production Credit Association in Blooming Prairie. She married Carl Fiebiger on May 31, 1984 in Blooming Prairie where they made their home. A member of St. Columbanus Catholic Church and CCW, she enjoyed rug braiding, quilting, sewing and gardening. She retired in 1988. Carl passed away on Aug. 16, 1994. Helen continued to live in Blooming Prairie until August of 2007 when she moved to Our House in Austin.

Survivors include sons, John (Marilyn) Wanous of Brownsdale; Richard Wanous of Blooming Prairie; Thomas (Julie) Wanous of Blooming Prairie; David (Brenda) Wanous of Blooming Prairie; daughter-in-law, Deanna Wanous of Tucson, Ariz.; 22 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren; sisters, Shirley (Donald) Meier of Brownsdale, Nellie Wanous of Brownsdale; brother, Wally (Marcy) Jukes of Austin; sisters-in-law, Rozella Friedrich of Fort Collins, Colo.; Marilyn Fiebiger of Blooming Prairie; Dorothy Herron of Bloomington; Ruth Berg of Emmons; Elizabeth Fredrickson of Hayfield; Hilda (Norman) Turner of Austin; brother-in-law, Kenneth Kruckeberg of Blooming Prairie; stepchildren, Barbara (Curtis) Blome of Blooming Prairie; Carol (Jack) Justice of Gilbert, Arizona; Colleen (Douglas) Carlson of Harmony; Kelly and Peggy Fiebiger of Inver Grove Heights. She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Richard; her husband, Carl; son, Billy and one sister, Mildred.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 26, 2010, at St. Columbanus Catholic Church in Blooming Prairie with Father William Kulas officiating. Ladies Rosary Service is at 4 p.m. followed by visitation from 4 to 7 p.m., Wednesday at Worlein Blooming Prairie Funeral Home and at the church one hour prior to the service.
