A Rose Creek man who was the driver in a fatal car accident in 1979 is in serious condition after crashing his car on Mower County Road 3 Wednesday afternoon.
Peter Darrel Wytaske, 51, was taken by Mayo One to St. Marys Hospital in Rochester around 2 p.m. According to Mower County Sheriff Terese Amazi, Wytaske’s license is canceled because his driving has been deemed a threat to public safety.
Amazi said a witness saw Wytaske driving his white Dodge Neon erratically prior to the crash. The witness told officers Wytaske ran a stop sign and rolled into the ditch on the south side of Mower County Road 3 at 600th Street.
According to a police report, Wytaske was being prepped for surgery after the accident.
Wytaske was wearing his seatbelt, according to Amazi. A blood test to check for alcohol has not been completed. Amazi said the crash is still being investigated.
Charges could come forth after the investigation, Amazi said.
There were no passengers.
