Edward N. Foss, 89, of Albert Leas died on Friday, Aug. 27, 2010, at Thorne-Crest Retirement Center.

He was born on Jan. 5, 1921, in London, the son of Ole J. and Annie (Swensrud) Foss. He was baptized and confirmed at Deer Creek Valley Church. Edward attended rural schools and farmed all of his life. Later in life, Edward would camp during the winter months in National Parks and National Forests where he loved to hike thru the forests and mountains. Edward also worked as a carpenter in construction.
Survivors include his brother, Archie and wife Delores Foss, Albert Lea and sister, Olga Beach, Dows, Iowa. 5 nieces; Lori and husband Richard Nelson and daughter, Mollie, Peggy and husband Mike Miller and children Brandon and Katie, Linda and husband Bob Reamon and children, Jill, Nicole, Kyla and Jessica, Patricia and husband Mike Larpenter and children, Jill and David, Janet and husband Mike Schroeder and son, Eric.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Laurence and Jay.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2010, at 11 a.m. from Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home. Pastor Kent Otterman will officiate. Burial will be at Deer Creek Valley Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
