A Racine, Minn., man who allegedly drove drunkenly through a yard in Dexter was charged Tuesday.
Brian Glenn McFarlin, 31, faces one count of third-degree driving while intoxicated, a gross misdemeanor. He is scheduled for arraignment Dec. 17.
According to a sheriff department’s report, McFarlin was followed and pulled over by the 39-year-old property owner around 1:25 a.m. Sunday at his Maple Street residence.
McFarlin appeared very intoxicated and was argumentative with the home owner, according to a criminal complaint.
Deputies with the Mower County Sheriff’s Department arrived afterwards and took McFarlin into custody. He registered a 0.25 blood-alcohol level about two hours after the incident, which is roughly three times the legal limit.
Damage was reported to McFarlin’s truck, but no damage was reported to the property.
Mower County Sheriff Terese Amazi said she did not recommend that other citizens pull over suspects in similar cases. However, she said people can follow suspects at a safe speed to inform police of the suspect’s location.
