Carol Mae Hanson, 54 died Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2010 at the Albert Lea Medical Center after a courageous battle from oral cancer.

Carol was born Aug. 18, 1956 in Williston, North Dakota to Philip H. and Veda J.

(Moreland) Perhus. She has been a lifetime Albert Lea resident, graduating from Albert Lea High School in 1974 and then Riverland Technical College with an associate degree in nursing. Carol married Robert Hanson on June 30, 1973 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Albert Lea. She worked as a LPN nurse at Austin Medical Center for over 13 years and was also a sales representative for Lisa Sophia Jewelry. She had been active in the Elks Club and Moose Lodge. Carol enjoyed NASCAR Racing, traveling, going on cruises. Carol was a very social person and liked being with friends. Carol especially enjoyed being with her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchild.

Carol is survived by her husband Robert Hanson of Albert Lea; children: Bobbie Pothier and special friend Michael Vermedahl of Albert Lea; Aaron (Kitty)

Hanson of St. Paul; and foster son: Aaron (Barb)Hann of Austin; three grandchildren: Gabrielle Pothier, Danielle Pothier and

Eleanor Hanson; one great grandchild, Savannah Pothier; two brothers: Jeff (Jonelle) of Albert Lea and Mark Perhus of Pennsylvania; sister Lynn (Gene) Joel of Albert Lea, and Jane Perhus of Albert Lea.

Carol is preceded in death by her parents: Philip and Veda Perhus; and niece, Dawn Marie Rickert.

The funeral service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 4, 2010 at Bonnerup Funeral Service, Albert Lea. The Reverend Richard Spande will officiate.

Interment will take place later in Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday at Bonnerup Funeral Service, Albert Lea and one hour before the service.
